American country music singer-songwriter Jason Aldean was born in Macon, Georgia on 27 February 1977. Inspired by his father’s guitar playing, young Jason spent much time practicing while his father was at work. Before long he was able to play a song after hearing it only a few times. His early musical influences were George Strait, Hank Williams Jr, and Alabama. With his mother’s help, he performed live on stage for the first time at age 14. After playing with a local band in high school, he struggled for a while. Eventually, his luck changed and he has been achieving his dream ever since. Since 2005 he has recorded seven albums with Broken Bow Records: Jason Aldean; Relentless; Wide Open; My Kinda Party; Night Train; Old Boots, New Dirt; and, most recently, They Don’t Know. My Kinda Party earned him triple platinum status. Night Train went double platinum and all of his other albums achieved single platinum status. He has topped the Country Radio charts 13 times. Aldean has collaborated with many other artists including Kelly Clarkson, Luke Bryan, and Eric Church. He has won a number of awards including Top New Male Vocalist from the Academy of Country Music (ACM) in 2005, Album of the Year for My Kinda Party from both the ACM and Country Music Association (CMA) in 2011 which also received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Country Album. In April 2016 he was awarded the most prestigious Entertainer of the Year trophy from the ACM. He claims that he was wondering if it was always going to remain out of reach since he’d been nominated several times in the past and had not yet won. Later in the year, regarding the release of his most recent album, Aldean feels proud to have brought back into his repertoire some “those big up-tempo songs” found on his earlier recordings. His work evolves, but he also returns to what he knows will work.
